Service Providers

The Office on Aging administers and funds various programs and services to aid and support the needs of older adults. Information on these programs and their relevant eligibility requirements can be found in this section.

About our Programs and Services

Adult Day Care Program Provides personal care for dependent older adults in a supervised, protective, and congregate setting during some portion of the day.
Community Services Program Provides support to senior centers and assists with organized social, art, recreational, health and nutrition services; outreach and education, including cultural and citizenship issues; and commodities support such as food items, emergency cash assistance, and travel vouchers.
Congregate Meals Program Serves nutritious meals to older adults in a group setting with an opportunity to socialize with others. Also provides nutrition education, nutrition risk screening, and nutrition counseling.
Elder Abuse Prevention Program Includes activities to develop, strengthen, and administer programs for the prevention and treatment of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Education and training sessions are provided in the community to the public, professionals, and family caregivers.
Family Caregiver Support Program Supports the needs of family members who provide care to a relative such as arranging for respite care, temporary in-home or out-of-home relief so caretakers have time to attend to other responsibilities or recharge, and provides training to caretakers and other family members who are caregivers for frail older adults. 
Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) Provides both community education sessions available to the public, and free unbiased individualized counseling about Medicare, managed care, and other private health insurance issues.
Home-Delivered Meals Program Serves nutritious meals to older adults in their home. Also provides nutrition education, nutrition risk screening, and nutrition counseling.
Legal Advocacy Program Provides free one-on-one legal consultation, referrals, and representation in administrative and civil cases involving consumer disputes, estate planning, conservatorships, housing issues and government benefits, elder abuse, and many other services.
Ombudsman Program Investigates complaints of elder and dependent abuse made by, or on behalf of, individual residents of long-term-care (LTC) facilities. Staff and volunteers work with licensing agencies and law enforcement in the investigation of abuse in facilities. They also visit all licensed LTC facilities, providing a regular presence to ensure that the rights of residents are protected. 
Senior Community Service Employment Program Provides paid part-time work-based training opportunities at local non-profit or government agencies for low-income adults age 55+ to gain employable skills to re-enter or remain in the workforce
Senior Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Program Provides non-emergency transportation to doctor visits, dental appointments, pharmacy pick-ups, and other medical-related destinations for older adults. 
Transportation Services are available to assist older adults with traveling to locations such as financial institutions, grocery stores, social/recreational activities, senior centers (including congregate meal sites), community education programs, or places of worship.
