Medicare’s Open Enrollment

Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period starts October 15.  It is your time to review your health and drug plan needs for 2020 to see if you can save money by changing plans.  Each beneficiary should review their plans annually, by first reviewing important notices received from your current plan regarding benefit and cost related changes for the next year.  Each year, health and drug plans may change benefits; premiums and cost sharing; health care provider networks; and prescription drug formularies.  You can take advantage of free, unbiased assistance in comparing health and drug plans by contacting HICAP – Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program.  HICAP counselors will help you review your current plan and compare it with other plans that may better meet your needs and at a lower cost.  HICAP assistance is available by telephone (714.560.0424 or 800.434.0222) or at one of the many enrollment clinics being held across the county at senior and community centers.
